Over the past years, virtually planned surgery has been progressively utilised in reconstruction of such large maxillectomy and mandibulectomy defects. The concept of computer-aided surgery uses surgical simulation and three-dimensional (3-D) computer-aided designed/computer-aided manufactured (CAD/CAM), originally introduced for precision and to lessen morbidity, it uses tools such as cutting guides instead of relying exclusively on intraoperative manual approximation for facial reconstruction.
