[»Right-Wing Christianity« as a Theological Challenge. Analytical and Ethical Perspectives.]
For several decades, there has been talk of a return of religion to the public sphere in Western societies. While its importance in promoting democracy is regularly emphasized, extreme right-wing interpretations of Christianity are currently on the rise not only in the US, but also in Germany. Under the term »right-wing Christianity«, this volume explores discussions of this new phenomenon in the tense relationship between religion and politics. The contributions examine, partly from a systematic and partly from an hermeneutic perspective, the spread and characteristics of the phenomenon as well as theologically responsible strategies for dealing with it. They touch on sociological and cultural studies issues as well as historical and normative-ethical ones.
