RECENT CHANGES IN THE CONSUMPTION PATTERNS FROM ROMANIA

Plenty of information related to the major events of 2020-2022 indicates the radical change in living conditions, for a substantial part of the population, which also generated some modifications in consumption behavior ¿ basic goods and services (food, housing, some services, energy consumption). The living conditions of the population changed overnight with the increase in prices. It was and still is a global phenomenon. Some habits of various categories of consumers have also changed, along with the new economic conjuncture and with the specifics of the offer of local goods and services. The declining trends in the propensity to consume were felt in the Romanian society too, together with the massive erosion of the population income and with the increasingly alarming news about the unstoppable rise in prices. Mass media has continuously debated the overlapping of an indefinite number of crises¿the energy crisis, the humanitarian and immigration crisis driven by the war in Ukraine, the persistent inflation and the euro crisis, the food crisis, the economic crisis, the border war crisis, the medical crisis that seems not to have ended yet, the crisis of domestic labor emigration.
