RE-ORIENTING LEADERSHIP IN AFRICA

The focus of this book is to establish the importance of servant leadership for organizational success. Due to the recent successes of servant leaders in some organizations, this book suggests that effective leaders in this century and beyond should practice servant leadership. The curriculum designed in this book provides information that would promote servant leadership in the Methodist church in Kenya and any other organization that might be interested. The curriculum is based on the philosophy and principles of servant leadership. The curriculum focuses on some important principles of servant leadership: a). Serving people''s needs is the foundation for servant leadership; b). Christian spirituality is a fundamental necessity for servant leadership. This curriculum is the result of research in areas related to leadership such as leadership theory, leadership styles and leadership development. It has been necessitated by a survey conducted by the researcher in the Methodist church in Kenya that reveals the need of servant leadership for effective ministry in this generation.
