Raw material quality control management

The aim of this review was to gather theoretical input on legislation and management tools for raw material quality control in the manufacture of feed for production animals, describing the regulations and supervision of the processes involved, emphasising the importance that these procedures have on the final result of the product. It is therefore clear that quality control of the raw material is essential in order to guarantee the safety of a reliable end product that meets the demands of the market and, consequently, of the animals, that comes as close as possible to the specifications or standards established for the purpose for which it was created and that complies with current legislation and the inspections of the federal bodies linked to the sector. It is essential to use these management tools to ensure the quality and safety of the food offered to farm animals. Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures are essential prerequisites for implementing Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points.
