Radiographs In Pediatric Dentistry

A radiograph is a two dimensional representation of a three dimensional object. Radiography is the making of a record (radiograph) of internal structures of the body by passage of X-rays or gamma rays through the body to act on specially sensitized film. In dentistry, radiographs enable the dental professional to identify many conditions that may otherwise go undetected and to see conditions that cannot be identified clinically. An oral examination without dental radiographs limits the practitioner to what is seen clinically. Radiographs of children reveal many conditions that cannot be discovered by any other method.
