Quality Assessment of Focused Antenatal Care Services in Pakistan

This book gives an insight about quality of Focused Antenatal Care services provided at tertiary care level in Pakistan. It is an updated integrated approach to Antenatal Care that emphasizes quality over quantity of visits. Care seeking during pregnancy is vital for maternal and newborn¿s health as pregnancy is a crucial time to promote healthy behaviors through provision of certain preventive and health promotion services. Although maternal mortality has been dropped by almost 50% between 1990 and 2010, still every day, approximately 800 women die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. FANC often presents the first contact opportunity for a woman to connect with health services, thus offering an entry point for integrated care, promoting healthy home practices, influencing care seeking behaviors, and linking women with pregnancy complications to a referral system.
