Public Health Interventions in Refugee Camps

By understanding what makes a refugee and what life as a refugee is like, it is possible to understand one result of intractable conflicts and conceive of ways to avoid such situations. In addition, knowing what problems refugees encounter allows different agencies and concerned citizens to provide better protective assistance and human rights for refugees .Therefore, Kiziba refugee camp has been chosen as a refugee community encountering different public health problems mainly associated with social, cultural, political and economic issues within the camp. In this book, the following has been covered: socioeconomic, political and cultural issues among refugees; proposed interventions to tackle the main public health problems in refugee camps; obstacles to public health interventions in refugee camps; strategies to tackle the most predictable obstacles to health care interventions in refugee camps; a case study of sexually transmitted diseases among refugees of Kiziba refugee camp and a strategic project proposal having an aim of reducing the spread of STIs/HIV in Kiziba refugee Camp.
