The research is concerned with a new type of ferrocement characterized by its lower density and enhanced thermal and physical properties such as compressive and flexural strength.The work can be divided into two main parts; in the first part experiments where maid to determine activity index of two types of active pozzolan, namely micro silica ad indigenous calcite and grinded feldspar. Several mortar mixes where prepared to determine the optimum amount of cement and lightweight aggregate (namely local porcelain and polystyrene aggregate). The experiment showed that porcelain are more suitable than polystyrene to produce high strength lightweight cement mortar.
