Prognostic and diagnostic potential of cephalometrics

Cephalometric radiography was introduced into orthodontics during 1930's but the method only gained wider acceptance for practical applications during the last four decades. Over the years, a whole range of analysis has been developed by a number of authors.For clinical application, the methods designed to assist diagnosis are of particular interest. The many different diagnostic analyses may be differentiated in a number of ways. Cephalometric radiography is just one link in the complex of data collection. Its relative value in providing information for overall planning will vary from case to case, depending on the nature of the anomaly , the age of the patient , and the possible forms of treatment.
