Production Technology of Cauliflower

Cauliflower (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis) belong to family cruciferae, is one of the most important winter vegetable grown widely. The cauliflower varieties are very responsive to temperature and photoperiod. Time of planting and varieties are important factors influencing vegetable production. It is therefore, very important to choose proper varieties and suitable dates of planting for high productivity of cauliflower. Different varieties of cauliflower are suitable for planting during different periods of the year. The importance of proper varieties of cauliflower for planting during particular period of the year cannot be emphasized. Improper varieties may not result in high yield and good marketable curd even under optimum conditions. Besides the judicious selection of variety, the success of the crop mostly depends on the proper planting dates. There was considerable increase in the yield of marketable produce with the proper dates of planting in cauliflower.
