Production Status and Genetic Characterization of Eritrean Pepper

This book gives information on the rich diversity of Eritrean pepper maintained by farmers for more than a century. It is arranged in six chapters of which chapter 2 provides a comprehensive literature review on pepper. Chapter 3 provides the use of participatory rural appraisal methods for studying current production status and extracting future opportunities. Chapter 4 deals with morphological characterization and utilizes various multivariate statistical techniques such as PCA, PCoA and cluster analysis for exploring and describing the diversity. Chapter 5 describes in the use of molecular techniques for describing the genetic diversity and population structure of Eritrean pepper. It provides practical knowledge about the use and interpretation of genetic diversity parameters and grouping methods using both neighbor joining and the model based method, STRUCTURE. The book could be useful for postgraduate students, researchers and general readers.
