Production and Marketing of Fodder in Tripura, India

Fodder and livestock sub-sector is very essential part of the agriculture sector for any nation¿s economy mainly for the developing countries. It is also fact that the population growth trends of any nation¿s should have match with the require trend of livestock growth rate due to various reason. Hence, in this regards India assists 20% of the livestock population of the world covering 2.3% geographical area. Moreover, the livestock sector contributes almost 32% of agriculture output in India. Basically, fodder is required to feed livestock. But presently India is facing huge deficit of fodder and it is projected that in future also the deficit of fodder will continue. Under these circumstances this book is an attempt to sketch the fodder subsistence in Tripura from various dimensions. The book is mainly focused on production and marketing of fodder in Tripura. Keeping all these in view, the purposes of the book are to examine the present status of fodder production systems, cost of production of green fodder, constraints faced by the producer of fodder, marketing channels, marketing efficiency and margin, role of women in marketing of fodder etc. in Tripura.
