Probation in the Republic of Moldova

This book analyzes the probation institution as well as the development of this institution in the Republic of Moldova. Today this test institute is interpreted by specialists in different ways. On the basis of numerous studies, the concept of modern probation, its role and its essence in the modern criminal-executive policy of the state was proposed. Based on the study, it is justified that probation is a psychosocial institution in the criminal field and helps to reduce recidivism. The punishment in the prison does not reach the desired result of the purpose of the punishment - correction of the offender. Probation is a way to resocialize criminals and, therefore, to correct them without the negative consequences of detention. Probability in its own way fulfills the function of public safety. The book also analyzes the process of evolving probation in the Republic of Moldova, a small state located in the center of Europe between Romania and Ukraine. The beginning of the probation was the various projects of the Institute of Criminal Reform Institutions within Moldovan NGOs and the establishment of the probation service as a state body within the Ministry of Justice of the RM.
