Private Equity is one of the most commonly discussed alternative investments of recent origin. Private Equity is any ownership in a company that is not publicly traded on a stock exchange. Private Equity investments are normally organized in the form of a partnership. In India, Private Equity has been rising as a potential source of finance for corporate enhancement of the traditional resource associations such as public equity issues, private placements, euro issues and external commercial borrowings. The key driving factors behind the flow of Private Equity capital into India are its strong macroeconomic fundamentals categorized by high growth rate, high gross domestic investment and a rolling stock market. A booming secondary market and regulatory reform in the primary market broadened the departure of possibilities for Private Equity firms and hence, attracted them to India. Private Equity mainly flowed into banking and financial services, construction and real estate, information technology, media and entertainment and other sectors.
