Prison Rape Elimination Act. Social Justice of Inmates Incarceration in Hawai`i State Prison Facilities

Seminar paper from the year 2010 in the subject Law - Miscellaneous, , language: English, abstract: This paper was conduct in the Fall 2010 when I was a MSW student at the University of Hawai`i at M¿noa. During this time, I was working at the Maui Community Correctional Center. I have come across issues regarding the Prison Rape cases that were injustice in which these cases occurred often from inmates on inmates, more so, correctional staff employees having sexual relationship with inmates. This was considered taboo and forbidden to discuss. I am a supporter of the Prison Rape Elimination Act or the P.R.E.A. because this injustice has to end. Victims under the P.R.E.A. must seek justice against the sexual predators and corruption and put an end to this. The P.R.E.A. is the advocate and champion to protect the victim of this heinous crime. That is the reason I conducted my research because of my MSW status as a proud employee in the prison facility.
