Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Societies (PACS)

The book confines to Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS). Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) also called Multi-purpose Co-operatives Societies, integrate credit with other services (which includes a) credit, (b) agriculture inputs, (c) marketing of agricultural produce, (d) provide consumer services, and (e) banking.) to be in a better position to counter the influence of moneylenders-cum-traders. It is playing a major role in the growth of rural area in general and agricultural sector in particular. It is found that most of them are incurring losses mainly because of confining their activities only to lending which limits their income generation capacity. In the process, they are not customer-friendly to the rural society at large. Against this backdrop, the author undertook to write the book on PACS which includes important findings and suggestions for making them economically viable. In particular, the book depicts overall working of the PACS, financial and non-financial problems of PACS. Author has also tried to seek the views and suggestions of all the concerned parties and provided strategies for strengthening these societies.
