Prevention & Treatment of Asthma, Epilepsy, Polio, Autism, & HIV/AIDS

This book gives an insight about the prevention of low-incidence disabilities and the provision of treatment facilities by special schools, hospitals, institutes and NGOs for people suffering from them. For the study, the researcher gathered information from 144 special schools, hospitals, institutes and NGOs working for asthma, polio, epilepsy, autism and HIV/AIDS. Those 144 entities were selected through convenience sampling method from selected cites found in four provinces of Pakistan. The main objective of the study was to find out the services provided by special schools, hospitals, institutes and NGOs in the treatment and prevention of asthma, polio, epilepsy, autism and HIV/AIDS as well as to explore the facilities available for the prevention and treatment of these low-incidence disabilities. It was found that most of the hospitals and NGOs which were working for polio and HIV/AIDS are providing treatment, prevention and counseling services while the majority of special schools, hospitals and institutes which are working for epilepsy, autism and asthma are providing only treatment facilities.
