Press freedom or democracy

A commonly held view of the notion of a free press is that it can only be achieved by allwoing the media to take a negative stance against the ruling government or party. This book strongly believes that this is an imported ideology, and there, it should not be used to measure media freedom because of its origin. It is a western ideology, anmd from developed states (continents). African media needs to work hand in hand with governments to promote nation building, and that this can work well even in countries that have been identified to have most media unfriendly reporting environments. This is the only was Africa/nations will be ablew to conserve their traditions and cultures which gives the ma sence of belonging.
