Postharvest Physiology and Handling of Cut Flowers

Floriculture has undergone rapid strides in recent years because of the increasing economic importance of cut flowers. Traded worldwide, cut flowers have very high international demand. But being ephemeral, cut flowers soon senesce and lose value, if not properly handled. This book gives an insight into the process of senescence of cut flowers, the factors affecting it and the methods of delaying it. One separate chapter deals with the Physiology of Senescence of Cut Flowers, giving insight into the biochemical, biophysical, physiological and molecular aspects of senescence.
