Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center is facing a potential deluge of thousands of new clients returning from military conflict. Conventional treatment has typically been focused on the psychological and sociological aspects of healing, with care being rendered by mental health professionals. There is a critical piece missing: the need to tap into the spiritual side of healing and explore how faith-based intervention that has proven effective in helping patients in other settings recover from traumatic life events can help military personnel as well. This book explores biblical and theological models of treatment that have been lacking in current treatment and explains how awareness, understanding, and incorporation of spiritual tools can help military chaplains and other health care professionals assist military clients and veterans in the quest for permanent and lasting healing.
