Portunid Crab Aquaculture

This book summarized the related scientific knowledge on portunid crabs aquaculture, focused on the reproductive biology and broodstock development for commercially important portunid crabs species in Malaysia. Fundamental knowledge about portunid crab reproduction as well as broodstock development is described in details, as reproduction is the foundation for establishing any seed production program, especially for the aquaculture projects. Topics include; i) gonad maturation stages, size at sexual maturity, fecundity and embryonic development for reproductive biology and ii) environmental conditions, nutritional requirements, physiological effects, genetic selection, health status, culture systems, and others management practices for broodstock development.
