Portrait of an 88 Year Old Educator: A Legacy for Young Academicians

This study utilized life story narrative as a methodological tool to explore the persona of an 88 year old educator. This woman is still active in the academe as a principal of weekend classes in a tertiary school and still pursuing a doctoral degree despite of her age.The results of this study show two emerging themes that mold the persona of the subject as an educator and as an octogenarian. These themes are her spirituality and healthy lifestyle coupled with happy disposition, transcending in all facets of her life: childhood, early school life, marriage and family, triumph and tragedy, teaching career and longevity. Her vulnerabilities, strength, faith and aspirations have implications to the overall field of research on pedagogy and health practices of an octogenarian that may turn into a legacy for young teachers and principal aspirants.
