Metamysidopsis sp. novo 4b is a new mysid specie reported by Bulckaen (2000) in the surf zone of Ecuadorian sandy beaches. This mysid specie is an important biological component of the ecological benthic system, representing until 97% of the total hyperbenthic density and playing an important role on the food-web structures and dynamics of this ecological community. Population structure, size at maturity, sex ratio, fecundity, secondary production and the relation between density, biomass and environmental parameters are described in this work.
