Popular Participation in Institutional Relations

The objective of this research is to promote a discussion on popular participation in the institutional relationship, in transactions involving mining projects and municipal public authorities, in compensatory measures aimed at impacted communities. It is investigated: how to carry out social control of the institutional relationship, in the fulfilment of socioeconomic and environmental constraints and compensatory measures by enterprises in the localities where the activity is installed, in order to make the interests of local development prevail? With a view to investigating this central question of the project, a case study was carried out of a project implemented in two municipalities in the Southeast of Brazil, here named as Capital and Municipality. In addition to the literature review comprising the survey of concepts, the study adopted the narrative method of lived experience to be complemented by documentary research in texts related to the project, as well as empirical research with the community and the institution responsible for implementation.
