Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease in Ayurveda

From the time Ayurveda came into existence, reproductive health was a subject of attention hence having a child is a very important social status for both male and female. Very often female becomes victim of social gossip for infertility. Ovarian factor is the second major cause of infertility among which PCOD is the most common cause of anovulation. PCOD- Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease -as the name suggest, is a collection of signs and symptoms related to ovarian dysfunction. In ayurvedic classics there is no direct mentioning of this disease rather, symptoms are found under various diseased conditions at various references i.e. Ashtoartavadushti, Bijadushti, Vandhya, Jataharini etc. So, it is very essential to find out some effective ayurvedic medicines and panchakarma therapy for this condition. We hope this preliminary study may prove to be an accepted concept in coming years globally.
