Policy Deviation management for Telehealth Services

Telehealth is the transmission of health-related services or information. Although telehealth has been in use for many years and there have been many trials and operations all over the world, the COVID-19 has given telehealth a fresh lease of life due the critical need to avoid face-to-face contact between patients and health professionals (doctors, nurses etc.) to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 virus. This is essential in view of the reported loss of lives of many health professionals all over the world, while treating COVID-19 patients. Since telehealth needs to be operationalised in healthcare practices, it is important that any such solutions comply with the policies of these organizations, related to many related aspects, such as the privacy of patient information, care provision and quality assessment, dispensation of medications, escalation of calls etc. Unfortunately, many organizations need to allow policy deviations in emergency situations and hence such deviations lead to catastrophic failures. This book discusses a methodology to assist individuals in an organization in deviating from policies without causing a disaster.
