Phytochemical and pharmacological evaluation of Dracaena reflexa Lam.

Pharmacognostical investigation werecarried outby performing organoleptic, microscopical and proximate analysis of dried leaves powder of Dracaena reflexa i.e. moisture content, ash values,extractive values, crude fiber.The obtained results showed that the moisture content were found to be 6% respectively.The Ash value found to be 7.5% respectively. While the crude fiber was found to be 2.46%.The Extractive value found to be (Petroleum ether 5%), (Dichloromethane 9%), (Methanol 14%) and (Water soluble 25%) respectively.Carbs, terpenoids, alkaloids, glycosides, flavonoids, steroids, and tannins are detected in the early qualitative phytochemical screening of powdereddrug of Dracaena reflexa leaves andthe same treated with various reagent i.e.water, 1 NHCl, 1N H2SO4,1N HNO3,Picric acid,Iodine,5%FeCl3,Glacial acetic acid etc. separately
