Phthalocyanines

The present book brief about history of phthalocyanine molecules, origin, structure and its similarity with the bio-molecule, various methods of preparation and its wide applications as colorizing materials, non colorants, semiconductors and as well as in medicinal field.We have discussed three types of substituents attached to phthalocyanine periphery symmetrically at 2, 9, 16, 23 positions. We have prepared 2, 9, 16, 23 tetra carboxy metal phthalocyanine as a starting material and treated various substituents as precursors at suitable experimental condition to get the desired products. The overall study of the present work summarizes that the different substituent metal Pc¿s can be synthesized by the reaction of tetracarboxy substituted metal Pc¿s with aromatic hydrazides,thiazoles and triazoles for good yields. 1. Tetracarboxy phthalocyanines were prepared by reacting phthalic anhydride in the presence of urea, metal salts and the catalyst with good yield and simple purification procedure.2. 2-(naphthalen-1-yloxy)acetohydrazide used as a precursor for the synthesis of oxadiazole substituted MPc. 3. And fictionalization of Pc macrocycle with oxadiazole is highly attractive.
