Perspectives on Book Development in Africa

Information quality and availability affect practically all aspects of life. Individuals, institutions, governments and non-governmental organizations constantly require information to make decisions and take action at the right time in order to achieve certain objectives. Information can therefore be considered as a strategic asset. This book is an anthology of papers written over three decades on wide ranging aspects of information management in the context of the book publishing industry. The publishing industry is a key driver and enabler for the cultural, social and economic development of any country, yet one that hasn¿t attained full potential in Africa. The anthology addresses critical issues that hinder the development of the book industry in Africa and offers insights into ways in which the book value chain can be nurtured, strengthened and supported to grow.
