Performance of functionalized nanosheets in the separation processes

Research on the selective separation of various species by 2D membranes has gained great importance in the past decade. In this book, we present a forward-looking review of recent advances in the field of functionalized two-dimensional nanostructured materials for the separation processes of ions, water, gas molecules, and water contaminations. Compared with the conventional separation methods, the separation process with the functionalized 2D nanostructured membranes is an energy-efficient and environmentally benign technology. The principles of improving the effect of functionalized chemical groups of 2D nanostructured membranes and also their important substrate role on the separation process highlighted. Accordingly, our feedback can be useful for the investigation of the effect of functionalized groups embedded in the 2D nanostructured membranes on the separation process.
