Demand of durum wheat is expected to increase due to the high rate of population growth. To fulfill the increasing durum wheat demand, production is limited to predominantly existing cultivated land. However, the present durum wheat production system with low productivity cannot satisfy the high consumer demand. There is urgent need to enhance production and productivity of durum wheat in Ethiopia.
