Performance of Commercial Banks in India during Post Reform Period

Banking industry in India has undergone a major transformation due to changes in economic conditions and continuous deregulation. The implementation of reforms has had an all round salutary impact on the financial health of the banking system, as evidenced by the significant improvements in a few salient financial indicators of the banking system. In this background, the present study is a comprehensive evaluation and analysis of performance of commercial banks in India during post reform period over more than two decades covering 1990 to 2010. The present study comprises six chapters covering introduction, growth and development of commercial banks in India, reforms in banking sector in post liberalization period and operational analysis.
