An outstanding example of post-war architecture, the School of Fine Arts in Kassel, designed by Paul Posenenske, is characterized by its differentiated spatial structure, high degree of variability, and an atmosphere of lightness. The subsequent history of its use is followed by a sketch of possible futures—from the challenges of the planned energy-efficient renovation to dystopian visions.
