Pattern of Mobile Phone Usage Among Undergraduate Medical Students

Mobile phone has become part and parcel of our life. You will find a toddler playing with a mobile phone rather than with a toy. It's being said jokingly - you can spend sometime without your spouse but not without mobile. In earlier days when there was only conventional mobile phone -its usefulness was limited to verbal communication only. You may recall the famous Vodafone campaign: "Where ever you go- our follows you". But with the advent of smart phone the scenario has completely changed- a) It is virtually a mini computer for executives/ professionals b) It is a camera or handy-cam for a traveller c) It is a GPS for a taxi driver d) It's a radio for a music lover e) It's weather and other information system for a retired person f) Mobile theatre for movie lovers and so on Thus the average use time of cell phone has just become manifold in recent years particularly among the student community. It has more become an addiction rather than a useful instrument. This excessive use has brought many adverse affect in human life which is impacting both their mental and physical balance and natural growth. In coming days mobile may be proved as a curse rather than a boon.
