Nursing work is a fundamental element in relieving the suffering of hospitalised paediatric patients, because nursing care is guided by the care needs of patients, respecting their subjectivity and uniqueness. This descriptive qualitative research was proposed out of a desire to understand and contribute to improving the nursing care offered in the paediatric clinic at the Tarcísio de Vasconcelos Maia Regional Hospital.
