Oxadiazol Clubbed Benzimidazole as Potential Anticancer Agents

Cancer is a terrible disease and the second leading cause of death, behind cardiovascular disease in the world. The three main strategies are currently adopted for cancer treatment viz. surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy. With the development of molecular biology, chemotherapy is becoming a more important therapeutic method. Therefore designing new anti-cancer drugs with high efficiency and broad-spectrum activity is a significant need today. Drug resistance, generally caused because of long-term cancer treatment is rapidly becoming a major worldwide problem. Designing new compounds to deal with the resistance problem has become one of the most important goals of anti-cancer research today. In the modern era most of the medicinal compounds discovered or available in the market consist of the heterocyclic ring system. Among these 1,3,4-oxadiazole is of significant interest in medicinal chemistry. Oxadiazole moiety and its various derivatives were studied frequently in the past few decades and found potent in various pharmacological conditions.
