Organic matter is one of the main components of a conservation production system. Soil organic matter is responsible for efficiently contributing to the physical, chemical, and biological attributes of soils. Physical because the MOS improves the soil structure; chemical because it makes ions available for the soil solution, besides contributing to theChemical because it makes ions available to the soil solution, besides contributing to the organic carbon content and CEC (cation exchange capacity); and biological because it improves the soil microbial activity. Consisting of 58% organic carbon (Corg), it can be incorporated into the soil through conservationist production systems, the best known of which is SDP - Direct Planting System. Other strategies such as liming and green manuringincrease the MOS content. Organic Matter is crucial in a conservationist management of natural resources.
