Oral Supplementation with Three Vegetable Oils Different in Fatty Acid

In this study, we investigated the effect of oral supplementation with PSO, SFO, TSO oils with different fatty acid compositions, on HFD-induced obesity in KM mice. The results of the animal study demonstrated that oils supplementation couldreduce body weight & tissue weight but not food intake. Furthermore, PSO, SFO, & TSO supplementation alleviated hyperlipidemia,hyperglycemia, and hepatic steatosis induced by HFD, reduced serum FFA levels, andimproved insulin resistance, liver function, and the atherogenic index. Additionally,the results showed that dietary oil supplementation suppressed HFD-induced adiposetissue inflammation in mice by reducing both secretion and mRNA expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines and increasing secretion and mRNA expression levels of anti-inflammatory adipokines. Likewise, the qPCR assay of lipid metabolism-related genes showed that dietary oil supplementation improved lipid metabolism byincreasing FA ¿-oxidation and thermogenesis & suppressing lipid synthesis in EAT.Taken together, PSO, SFO, and TSO supplements could have potential anti-obesityimplications by suppressing inflammation and improving lipid metabolism in HFD-induced obese mice.
