Oral Health among Preadolescents: A School-Based Intervention in Iran

A global increase in the prevalence of dental caries is a pending public health crisis. Gingival bleeding and dental plaque are common in children worldwide. Reducing the burden of oral diseases in children is a global goal of the WHO. Oral health promotion programs should consider determinants of oral health. This book covers the main areas of oral public health, i.e. oral health promotion, health behaviour models, determinants of oral health, and an epidemiological review of oral health status and behaviours. The book brings out a substantial knowledge in the field of health promotion and its connections. Furthermore, the book assesses oral health and its determinants among Iranian preadolescents, and evaluates a school-based health education program among the children.
