Occurrence of human enteroparasites

Enteroparasitoses are infections caused by protozoa and helminths, represent the most common diseases in the world and are endemic in developing countries, in poor populations are generally more common in tropical regions, where they are a serious public health problem. Enteroparasites of the species Entamoeba histolytica, Cryptosporidium spp. and Giardia lamblia are important threats to human health because they are protozoa that occur worldwide and have caused many outbreaks of gastrointestinal diseases, contributing to malnutrition, gastrointestinal changes of high severity as the invasion of the colon wall destroying the epithelial cells causing intestinal inflammation, which can lead to death of the affected person. The main form of transmission of protozoa is the waterborne route.
