Occurrence of Bovine Paratuberculosis in Chitwan District of Nepal

Livestock are the God given gift to the rural poor people of Nepal to solve their household need. The benefits from livestock are mainly due to milk, meat, wool, Leather, employment, manure, Power to Agriculture & transport. Paratuberculosis (Johne¿s disease) is one of the most important economic diseases causing a huge loss of production however this disease is not at all widespread. It does occur, however, and as the years go by, it will become more and more common and will place a great tax on the cattle industry.In the last few years we have seen a steady increase in the number of M. Paratuberculosis-infected animals. And this infectious disease has reached in economically significant proportions for domestic animal agriculture.The disease has been reported from most of the continents including Asia. This includes Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Nepal. Thus the research in this disease is necessary to prevent the loss in productivity by generating useful tools to control the disease.This research on Bovine Paratuberculosis in Nepal is not so new idea however research and comparision of this disease between organized and unorganized farm is a new concept.
