Nutritional studies on bitter gourd (Momordica charantia L.)

Finally, Application of inorganic nitrogen @ 100 kg N ha-1 in the form of Urea may be recommended to secure higher growth, yield and quality parameters of bitter gourd. Incorporation of Vermicompost @ 5 ton ha-1 caused beneficial response on growth, yield and quality attributes of bitter gourd and maximum values were observed by the application of 5 ton ha-1. In order to secure large amount of fruit yield and other parameters, the use of 5 ton ha-1 of vermicompost may be recommended. As per economic of treatment it was found that maximum benefit cost ratio i.e., 2.35 was obtained by the use of 100 kg N ha-1 hence for remunerative crop of bitter gourd an application of 100 kg N ha-1 may be recommended.
