Nomadic Theatre Expt One: Compadre de Ogum

¿This work on the inter-sections between architecture, urbanism and site specific theatre has impressed me greatly. Edvard is a trained architect as well as playwright and director with considerable experience. His production of the Amado story O Compadre de Ogum and the pratice based research he is undertaking along it, raise questions that have pratical, aesthetic, social, religious, cultural and políticoeconomic relevance. These strands of inquiry are held together nicely in Edvard¿s ongoing work. He has an unusual facility for thinking and acting between discrete disciplines. Edvard¿s work breaks new ground in exploring how architecture ¿builds¿ performance and how theatre can intervene in the life of a district or city. His sense of how architecture and site specific performance can made an alternative to redevelopment strategies is really important: I applaud the sensitivity with which he investigates and involves himself in the lives of diverse communities in Brazil.
