Nigerian Copyright Commission and Book Piracy in Nigeria

Book piracy is an illegal reproduction of books and other printed materials and distribution/selling of these for profit. It is part of the hallmarks of a corrupt society, where personal interest overrides commitment to the values of the state. It is a crime that not only adversely affects the creative potential of society by denying the creators their legitimate dues, but it also causes economic losses to all those who had invested their money in bringing out the books for use by end-users. The book is a study conducted to investigate the contributions of the Nigerian Copyright Commission toward controlling book piracy in Nigeria. Hopefully, whoever reads the book will be equipped with the basic knowledge of the causes of book piracy in Nigeria, the types of books mostly pirated, measures taken by the Nigerian Copyright Commission against book piracy, the effectiveness of the measures taken to curb the menace and the effects of book piracy on book business in Nigeria.
