New Flesh, Old Demons

New Flesh, Old Demons addresses cinematic, televisual and literary narrative constructions of pestilential bodies in post-Cold War American culture, with incursions in the past, placing a strong emphasis on contextualization and historicization, beginning with an acknowledgement of the impact of the Gothic tradition on significant developments leading up to the current cultural stage. On the other hand, the historical period this dissertation focuses on (post- Cold-War) overlaps with the emergence of the network as a dominant discursive paradigm in a broad variety of areas, from information technology and communication sciences to philosophy, political activism or military theory.
