Neocytolysis And Haemoglobin VariabilityImpact

This study was conducted in internal medicine department, Minia universityhospital during the period from 2008 to 2010. The study included twentypatients with chronic renal failure maintained on regular haemodialysis andten healthy volunteers as a control group.Our aims in this study were to investigate neocytolysis and its effect onhemoglobin variability in anemia in chronic renal failure patients, whomaintained on hemodialysis and treated with erythropoietin.The patients were chosen from the dialysis unit who undergo regularhaemodialysis and do not have any other systemic diseases. Ten additionalhealthy volunteers were selected of matched age and gender to the patientsas a control group.Full history was taken and clinical examination of the patients and controlwas done. The weight, height and body mass index was calculated Asweight (kg) /(Height (m))2 . Routine laboratory investigations were doneincluding urea, creatinine calcium, phosphorus,uric acid, electrolyes, bloodsugar and complete blood picture for both patients and control. Patientswere injected with 2000Uof rHuEpoS.Cevery other day for6months.Hemoglobin was monitored every month during injections and upon Epowithdrawal
