Natural History of Cutaneous Melanoma.

To achieve a positive impact on the morbidity and mortality of cutaneous melanoma it is important to perform early detection of its precursor lesions, or diagnose the disease in initial stages, when its horizontal growth is still maintained. Once the vertical growth phase begins, the risk of lymph node metastasis, systemic metastasis, disability and death increases exponentially with only a few millimetres of tumour growth in the thickness of the skin.The idea of making a book aimed at students in the health sciences, aims to empower the future graduate of knowledge about the natural history of cutaneous melanoma to allow early detection of precursor lesions, timely management of the disease in early stages and a proper understanding of the systematic diagnosis, the staging process and the various forms of treatment that exist today.
