Nanotechnology in Operative Dentistry and Endodontics

Science is undergoing major changes with the emergence of more advanced technology in all fields and one such major breakthrough is ¿Nanotechnology¿ which is constantly advancing. "Nano" is derived from the Greek word for 'dwarf'. Nanotechnology is the science of manipulating matter measured in the billionths of meters or nanometer, roughly making it to the size of 2 or 3 atoms and involves inventing and improving materials, devices, and systems with physical, chemical, and biologic properties that differ from those of large-scale structures. Development of ¿nanodentistry¿ will make possible the maintenance of near-perfect oral health through the use of nanomaterials. Thus, this book will highlight wide range of nanomaterials available for various applications in different subspecialties of dentistry and its impact on restorative dentistry and endodontics in a positive way. More research in the field of restorative dentistry and endodontics should concentrate at a nanoscale for the possibility of finding better, finer techniques, products, and procedures for the treatment of diseases in the oral cavity.
