Mr Reuter and his Promise of Love

France in 2050: The writer Reuter is now 65 and lives with his beagle, Nietzsche, in a small village on the French Mediterranean coast, far removed from the hustle and bustle of what most people call ‘life’. After publishing countless books, in the bittersweet belief that he has already left the exciting times of life behind him, his daily life is shaped by routines that are not always entirely of his own choosing. He has tried with great effort to forget Tabea, the love of his life, even though she reminds him every day in a four-metre-high drawing in the atrium of his living room that his life has always included a colossal failure. Reuter is expecting a visit from his best friend Alba when the gallery owner Sina suddenly turns up at his home in the south of France. Of all people, she brings news of the one person in the world whom he now fears meeting again the most: Tabea.
